How to Renew Your DA Membership
Option 1: Online Renewal via the DA Website
- For this option a valid email address is required.
- Kindly complete an online renewal application by clicking on the button below (on the left). You will have the option of receiving your membership pack electronically or via post.
- You will receive an email containing a new unique reference number and the banking details to be used. The new reference number will become your membership number upon payment of the membership renewal fee, which is R10 per year.
- Proceed with subscription by making a payment into our account using the new unique reference and bank account details provided.
Option 2: Renewal via e-mail
- Submit your renewal request by emailing membership@da.org.za and confirm your full contact details including your current membership and ID number.
- A membership officer will be in contact with you and will email you the banking details to deposit your membership subscription.
Option 3: Renewal via mobile phone
- Send an SMS containing your name, surname and ID number or current membership number to 30919.
- A membership officer will then contact you to assist you via telephone to update your details and renew your membership.
Option 4: Provincial Office via Branch or Councillor

Victory achieved as the Forest Hill Water Tower is to be upgraded!
At the council meeting this week when the City budget was tabled, it was revealed that a much-needed budget of R1 million for the 2023/24 financial year and R30 million for the 2024/25 financial year has been allocated to the Forest Hill water tower. The 7 years of both Councillor Michael Crichton of Ward 56 and Councillor Rashieda Landis of Ward 55 fighting and toiling with this issue has finally paid off. This is clearly a victory for us!
For the past seven years, large parts of Wards 55, 56 and 124 have been subjected to regular, continuous and lengthy water outages due to there being issues and a lack of supply coming from the Forest Hill water tower.
For far too long honest rate-paying residents have been subjected to a substandard service but today triumph has prevailed!
With developments in these areas increasing over the years and the almost inevitable increase in population, there has been a clear need for the capacity of the Forest Hill water tower to be increased in order for the water outages to not be so frequent.
Both Councilor Crichton and Councillor Landis have been at the forefront of fighting for this issue to be addressed and resolved. They have had continuous engagements with the top leadership of Johannesburg Water (JW) and they eventually got JW to concede that the Forest Hill water tower does indeed need to be upgraded when they came up with the design of what needed to be done at the water tower and that they only needed the City to allocate much-needed capital Budget for this.
In light of this, both Councillors were devastated when the draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) budget was released recently where the Forest Hill Water tower was not included in the draft budget! This prompted the Councillors to make a clarion call to all affected residents to submit as many comments as possible about it prior to the budget being finalized. The result of all this is the victory achieved in Council this week!
Going forward we will ensure that this gets actioned and becomes a reality and does not stay on the budget only on paper.
